Sexed
All humans beings were created equal - right? What if you could choose you gender before taking your first breath?
SEXED contemplates the physical inequality of females vs males through light-hearted comedy. Taking a unique perspective of a gender-neutral alien that is first assigned a female then a male physical form, the question of an intelligent decision around physical attributes bestowed to the different sexes is raised. Further to this, the resultant inequality in opportunities based on the physical form is also considered.
SYNOPSIS
Extraterrestrial beings embark on an extraordinary experiment: to immerse themselves in the human experience on Earth. Their method? A sophisticated interplanetary transit system that deposits them into our world via a simple elevator in a clinical foyer.
Upon arrival, these cosmic voyagers are inducted by means of an instruction manual and a holographic information officer who assists with demonstrations associated with the workings of the body they have inhabited. The new arrival materializes as a woman. Initially delighted by her allocated form, she soon feels buyers remorse on learning more about what the female experience entails
Being resourceful, as woman are, she looks for a means to improve the situation and realises that there has been a clerical error which has resulted in the assignment of the incorrect human version. The extra-terrestrial swiftly has this mistake corrected and starts the process over.
The elevator doors slide open once more, revealing a male form. With no obvious unfavourable characteristics this model is far more acceptable to the alien. It appears that the earth experience is going to be a whole lot better as a man.
